Often we are urged to imagine what Jesus would
do, but if you do not really know Him, you may be liable to to make a grave mistake. Jesus
warned his disciples that some would seek to take their lives beleiving that in doing so
they were serving God: "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service." ---John 16:2 Some imagine that "their Jesus" would be happy to water ski with them on the Sabbath. Other believe that He would be glad to go out play a little one-on-one out on the basketball court. Who's to say one way or the other? Can we make Jesus out to be whatever we imagine Him to be? Yet this is what man has been doing for thousands of years! It is called IDOLATRY-- making God in our own image! So who is to say what God is like? Who is to say WHAT JESUS WOULD or WOULD NOT DO? We are not left without a clue. God has revealed Himself through the inspiration of His Word: "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." --- 2 Peter 1:21 We have the writings of "holy men of God" as found in the Scriptures. We have the writings of the Spirit of Prophecy found in the writings of Ellen G. White. The Bible says: "...Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his
prophets, so shall ye prosper."
---2 Chron. 20:20 How many times have you been in a youth group and the faciliator asks, "Well, what do you think?" and no one ever gets around to asking, "Well, what does God say?" Truth is not found by polling everone's opinion. It is found by inquiring, "What is written? What sayeth the Lord?" So this page will ask hard hitting, even controversial questions and not suggest human wisdom as the answer, but will present the cousnsel of God.

"A view of things was presented before me in which the students were playing games of tennis and cricket. Then I was given instruction regarding the character of these amusements. They were presented to me as a species of idolatry, like the idols of the nations." EGW |
